In a Turkish village, five orphaned sisters (Günes Sensoy, Tugba Sunguroglu, Elit Iscan) live under strict rule while members of their family prepare their arranged marriages.  An open eye into the diciplin of Turkish culture, where the conservative Anatolian community responds with panic, when the girls innocently interact with their male class mates, in this terrific, Oscar-nominated feature.

Beautifully observed, the restless camera of debut director, Ergüven, captures both the tactile intimacy of the sisters – and the mounting tension as they start to buck against the lives that have been ordained for them.
